Seeing Red

I know there has been a lot of talk about RED over here lately...

Especially on the LIPS!!!

Red is just a gorgeous color.
It symbolizes love, heart, and passion!

BUT....

How do we know WHICH Red Shade is the RIGHT shade for us???
Because lets be honest....There are like...1,000 shades of Red!!!
It can kind of seem like picking a needle out of a haystack when trying to find the right red.

Let me share a little info on that front so you will know which RED will work..and which one will make you look like Rudolph the Red...Lipped...Reindeer!

Fair Skin Tones:

Fair Skinned Beauties should lean toward reds with more warm orange undertones (Except for you Ginger girls!...See your own section below!)

Easier said than done right?

Think brick red when trying to choose a Red Lippie.

Warm, lightly orange hued red tones are the perfect match for fair skinned ladies.
Brick red can run from the darker satin red, to the brighter coral infused red.
Bright, true red colors are great for fair skin as well!
Stay away from the really brown toned reds...The dark brown will conflict with your creamy complexion.

Here are a few options!

NYX Butter Lipstick in JuJu - $5.99

NYX Round Case Lipstick in Eros - $3.99

Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter in Candy Apple - $8.49

NYX Round Case Lipstick in Snow White - $3.99

I actually own this exact darker red lipstick!
Here is a picture of what Snow White looks like on, with fair skin and light hair!

Medium Skin Tones:

Darker reds look best on Medium Toned Beauties.
I think the warm skin tone allows for the darker reds to pop and not be overly dramatic.
That being said, bright red shades that the fair skinned ladies can rock, should be avoided by warmer skin tones.
Choose a deep berry colored burgundy to really stand out!
Think this amazing flower below!

If you see a red lipstick that says "blue toned"...go for it! The blue helps deepen the red and is perfect for a medium skin tone!

Here are a few options!

NYX Round Case Lipstick in Chaos - $3.99

NYX Matte Lipstick in Eden - $5.99

L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipcolor in Plum Explosion- $7.99

Darker Skin Tones:

Dark skin tones really have it all....they can pretty much rock any shade of red they want...
BUT...
The really dark, deep reds look AMAZING with this skin tone!
Think Red Velvet cake!

Dark plums and chocolatey hued reds really pop against this skin type.

Here are a few options!

Calvin Klein One Color Shine Lipstick in Naughty - $16

NYX Simply Vamp Lip Cream in Bewitching - $6.49

NYX Butter Gloss in Devil's Food Cake - $4.99

Ginger Girls:

You redheaded beauties might think you can't rock the red...since you already have RED covered.
But..It's actually a very flattering color on you ginger gals!
Since you don't want to compete with your lovely locks... choose reds with a more pink or purple tone instead of an orange hue.
Think cranberries!

Here are a few options!

NYX Round Case Lipstick in Chic Red - $3.99

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color in Divine Wine - $7.99

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in Ruby Star - $7.49
